First Nap in the Big Boy Bed and Mr. Thumb

Well, despite my desire to keep Austin from sucking his thumb, he has devised a way to spend time with Mr. Thumb anyway. Over the past week, I have been awakened in the middle of the night to the sound of Austin sucking on his fist when he paci had fallen out. I've done my best to find it and pop it back in for him in the middle of the night. Well, today I laid Austin down for his first nap in his crib, also known as his Big-Boy-Bed. Sometime during his nap, he lost his paci, but found Mr. Thumb. It was too cute for me to disturb, so here it is.

Here are some other pictures from the past week.

Here's one that shows how big he is getting. You can compare it to the other pictures on his tummy time mat and see how he's grown.

Here's Austin hanging out with me while I work on his scrapbook and a picture of one of his scrapbook pages.

Here's one of the boys sleeping in on a Saturday.

That's about it.

Pool Time!

Well, this week has not been very eventful. I had to start back to school, so that's been keeping me busy. I had my first assignments due and we are doing one of those stupid business simulators that is going to drive me crazy! So every night after Austin goes to bed, I sit here at the computer and continue to expand my knowledge of the business world or at least that's what is supposed to be happening. So far, I don't feel any smarter, only more tired and have a never ending "to-do" list.

We did have some excitement this week. On Thursday, Austin went for his first dip in the pool. Our friends Kara and Cole invited us to swim and at friend's house while they were away on vacation. It was a blast. At first the water was a little chilly and Austin didn't like it. Once he got used to it though, he loved it! He kicked his feet while I held him in place and "jumped" off the edge. Okay, he did kick in the water, but we pretended to jump into the pool. It was alot of fun. The really nice thing was that it was a saltwater pool, so no worrying about stupid chlorine on his skin! It was also pretty shady at one end of the pool so we didn't have to worry about sunburns. It was alot of fun. Thanks Kara and Cole!

Here are some pictures from the pool:

Trip to North Carolina and Doctor's appointment

Well, we've been really busy lately. Earlier this month, we took a trip to North Carolina to get a picture with Austin's Great-Great-Grandmother among a few others. We had four plane rides total to get there and back. Austin was wonderful for all of them. Our last leg had at least ten children and babies on it. Austin was by far the best behaved. He had no problems with pressurization and even was great on the car ride to Greenville, Rocky Mount, and back to Raleigh.

While we were there, we got to see alot of family which was nice. First we went to Greenville to see Great-Granddaddy and G.G. While we were there we saw Great-Uncle Ricky and Great-Aunt Sheila, Great Uncle Joel and Great-Aunt Tammy, and our cousins Lauren and Paul and Tanner and Katie. We also saw lots of other old friends. Here are some pictures from the trip. Of course, Paw-Paw had to be there for the five generations picture.

Here are some pictures of us eating at Parker's BBQ (nowhere like it).

Here are some pictures of us hanging around Great-Granddaddy and G.G.'s house.

We went to Rocky Mount to see Austin's Great-Great-Grandmother.

After spending a couple of days in Greenville, we went to Raleigh for the night before our flight back to little rock. Great-Aunt Shannon came up from Georgia to see Austin.

Austin traveled in the sling at the airport. On a couple of flights, he slept on his daddy too.

Yesterday was Austin's 2-month doctor's appointment. He has grown to 11 pounds 1 ounce and is 23 inches long. He is a little weed! The doctor was impressed with his growth and he's catching up to all the other boys on the growth chart. He is now in the 50th percentiles! He was in the 10th percentile when he was born. He got his first round of shots and took them like a champ. He only cried for about 10 or 15 seconds. I think it was really harder on me. I hate needles and have real anxiety about them.

After our appointment, we ran errands and stopped by my old job to see a few people. Austin was "oohed" over and then we came home. We had dinner last night with a couple of other "single moms", Lisa and Marcie. Austin sat in my lap across from his friend Max (Marcie's baby who is three weeks older) and talked to him while Max smiled away. It was cute. That's about all for now.

Got one!

I managed to capture a smile! Finally! This was Friday on the changing table (the smiliest place).
