Catching Up

Okay, so I know I've been slacking on the blog, but I can't help but spend all my time with Austin. Our favorite (my favorite) pastime is taking a nap on the couch. We've been having "tummy time" on our lily pad. Austin can't use the Boppy that came with the pad because he tries to use it to take a nap instead of work.

When we are done with the work part, it's time to play. I roll him over and we play with the toys. He also gives me lots of smiles unless he's really upset from all the work. This was the best face I could get out of him today, or at least the best I could catch on camera. He gives some pretty good toothless grins.

After we play, he likes to sit in his Bumbo chair. Today he cried everytime I tried to take him out of is so he played in it for a while.

Then when he decided he was done, he lets me know about it.

That's about it. I'm enjoying every minute with my little man and wish that he wouldn't grow up, but I know that it's going to happen whether I like it or not. Now we are about to get some thunderstorms which makes for perfect napping weather.

First Smile

Got my first smile today! I was getting Austin ready for his bath. I laid him back on the changing table and the corners of his mouth were starting to turn up so I spoke to him. He looked right at me and grinned. It was the cutest thing EVER! Yay for small rewards. He had a good bath today without crying except when it came time to wash his hair. He used to love it and now he hates it. That's about all to report on today.

One Month Check-up

Well, we had our one month check-up today. Austin now weighs in at 8 pounds and 14 ounces. They also measured him as still being 20.5 inches long, but Lisa and I measured him last week and we got 21.5 inches. Who knows. His head is also measuring at 37.8 cm. When he was born his stats were 6 pounds and 4 ounces, 20.5 inches, and 34 cm. In all areas except length, he's making good strides forward. His doctor also says that he is "fairly advanced" in his motor skills for a 4-week old. Yay! I take that to mean that I'm doing my job in making him do "tummy-time" and play with his friends in his gym. We did have to move his favorite friend from his left side to his right side so that he will play with that arm a little more. Otherwise, everything is going good!

Hanging Out

I just had a few pictures that I hadn't put up from a little bit ago. Here's a picture of Austin being snuggly.

This one is from the fourth of July.

This one is from yesterday to show you just how big Austin is getting or at least the amount of baby fat he's putting on. The scale in our bathroom says he weigh 9.5 pounds. I'm not sure that can be right, but maybe.

Well, there's not much to report on. We had a good visit from Sam's parents this past weekend. Austin is now 4.5 weeks old. I can't believe he's been around for a whole month. Sometimes it seems longer, but most of the time it seems like just yesterday. He is finally beginning to wake up during the day and want to be more active. He enjoys pushing up from my chest and bobbing his head while I talk to him. He also likes to coo at us from his play pen.

We've started playing with our gym in the play pen. The animals that came on it were boring so I went out and bought him some more interesting friends. He loves to bat them around and make them jingle. He also has full conversations with them. Then someone will say something out of line and he will start screaming. At first it really startled me, but now I think it's funny. I wonder what goes through his head sometimes. Here's a video of him playing.

We are also starting to get on some kind of schedule. We are working on eating, playing, sleeping, and repeat. Austin often has different ideas about this and we eat, sleep, play, sleep, and repeat. The only problem with this is the sleeping times aren't long enough to allow me to get anything done. We'll get it figured out soon though.

Weekend Vist

Well I know that is has been a little while since I updated you all on what's going on with the Dunlap group. Sam is back at work, I'm back to working on my MBA, Austin is doing his job of eating, pooping, and sleeping (although not when I'm ready to take a nap). He really is a good baby. He sleeps for about 4 of 5 hours in the night so that's all I can ask for. He has been pretty crabby due to some gas, but I've taken the "gassy" foods out of my diet and that seems to have helped.

Last Sunday, I was able to leave him with Sam for a few hours while I ran out with Lisa for lunch and a pedicure. Then on Tuesday, Lisa watched him so I could get my hair cut. He was good both times.

We will have our next trip to the pediatrician next Friday. Hopefully we will get a good report.

We are expecting company this weekend, so this is a picture of us this morning after our shower/bath.

Sam's parents are coming today and staying the weekend to visit us and their new grandchild.

We also took advantage of some awesome Southwest deals and will be flying to the beach in September and October to visit Granny! Sam will probably drive down on the weekends since he won't be able to take that much time off while he's doing his A/C upgrade. He may be able to come for the week, but we just can't ever make plans because of the air force and Sam's work-a-holic mentality.

This is also a picture of 25-days post baby! Yay for good genes and breastfeeding!

I guess that's all for now. I'll keep you posted on more as things happen.

Oh the joys of little boys!

Well, Austin has now been out and about for 17 days or something like that. He has already shown his talents of leaking from every hole in his body while I try to change his diaper. He's also mastered getting dirty as soon as he gets clean. I gave him a bath and he immediately pooped in his frog towel. I think I'm in for quite a bit of laundry and many baths in my future. Other than that, life is pretty normal. His umbilical cord finally fell off exposing his cute little belly button. He still smiles and "laughs" in his sleep. I hope that doesn't go away for a while. He's still the sweetest little thing even when he's about to drive me to tears. That's only happened twice and usually at night on days when I didn't get an afternoon nap with him.

I've started back to school again for my summer course. It's hard to believe, but I'm almost halfway done with my MBA! I'm not sure I'll be able to keep up the pace though. It may be more like 2011 before I finish instead of December 2010.

Anyway, little man is waking up and will soon be demanding to be fed so that's all for now.
